Three formats, one machine

The classes.

Programmed across the week, so every class is different and the week trains all of you.

What is NRTHRN Strong

NRTHRN Strong is functional training reimagined. At the center of every class is the NRTHRN Trainer, our patented machine inspired by cross-country skiing, built to deliver a full-body workout of strength, cardio, and mobility. In a studio where Nordic minimalism meets hygge.

Our classes

Three formats. One machine.

Strong class
Strong
50 min · Flagship

Our flagship class. Strength, cardio, and mobility in one session. Each class alternates between total-body work on the NRTHRN Trainer and muscle-focused floor sets with dumbbells. It runs on a weekly split, so every class trains a different focus and no two repeat. New or experienced, the resistance scales to you, and keeps pushing you forward.

Sculpt class
Sculpt
50 min

Sculpt blends Pilates-inspired principles with deep muscle activation, balance, and mobility. Through slow, controlled work on the NRTHRN Trainer, you'll build strength, stability, and control while improving the way you move. Short bursts on the machine gently elevate your heart rate before you return to focused strength work. Every class ends with a short mindful moment.

Cardio class
Cardio
45 min

Built to improve your engine. Strategic intervals and sustained efforts on the NRTHRN Trainer push your aerobic capacity and build VO2 Max, one of the strongest predictors of longevity. High output in minimal time, low-impact from start to finish. Every watt, stroke, and split is tracked, so you leave with proof of your progress.

Strong class structure

Train the way you actually move.

Every Strong class follows the same progression on the NRTHRN Trainer: build your foundation, expand into all three planes of motion, then finish with a short high-intensity push. The result is strength, cardiovascular fitness, and movement quality not just in the studio, but in everyday life.

Block one
Single plane
Foundations

Every class starts here. Strength, control, and technique in the simplest plane, forward and back, so everything that follows is solid.

Block two
All three planes
Level up

Now it opens up. Lateral and rotational movement enter, and you train every plane, the way you move in sport and in everyday life.

Block three
VO2 Max
The Push

The all-out finish. A short, high-intensity effort that drives your VO2 Max, the number that predicts how long and how well you'll keep moving.

The machine is always full body. The floor is the day's focus. Together, you're training for the next thirty years, not the next twelve weeks. More on the trainer →

Weekly Strong programming

Four focuses. One balanced week.

Every Strong class is full body on the NRTHRN Trainer. What changes each day is the floor strength focus. Throughout the week, you'll rotate through Lower Body, Upper Body, Core & Glutes, and Full Body, creating balanced strength without repeating the same workout.

01
Lower body
Glutes · Quads · Hamstrings · Calves

Build strength through your lower body with a floor workout focused on power, balance, and stability.

02
Upper body
Back · Shoulders · Chest · Arms

Develop balanced upper-body strength with pushing, pulling, and pressing movements that improve posture, stability, and everyday strength.

03
Core & glutes
Deep Core · Obliques · Glute Med & Max

Strengthen the muscles that support every movement with a floor workout focused on core stability, glute strength, balance, and control.

04
Full body
Total-Body Strength

Challenge every major muscle group with compound movements that build strength, coordination, and muscular endurance.

Common questions.

Do I need experience with the machine?
No. First-timers are walked through the Double Poling pattern at the start of every class, and the instructor cues form before output.
Do I need ski experience?
None at all. The machine is inspired by cross-country skiing, but a class is strength, cardio, and mobility. You are not skiing.
Is it low-impact?
Yes. Double Poling is a low-impact, full-body movement, allowing you to train at high intensity without the impact of activities like running or jumping.
What should I bring?
Training clothes, training shoes, and water. Towels are provided. Grip socks are recommended for Sculpt but aren't required.
How often should I train?
Three to five classes a week is the rhythm most members settle into. The four-bucket split assumes at least three to cover the whole body across the week.
