Scalable for any level

Resistance adjusts to you — from first-timers to seasoned athletes.

Your First Class: Step by Step

  • Arrive 10 minutes early. First-timers are welcomed into class 5 minutes prior, where our coaches help you get set up and walk you through the foundational movements.
No stress — we’ve got you.

    What to bring

    • Water bottle

    • Comfortable athletic clothing

    • Indoor shoes (or grippy socks for Sculpt)

    We provide

    • Towels for class and showers

Note: If you have any injuries, limitations, or health concerns, let your coach know when you arrive. They'll modify movements to work for your body.

  • You’ll work at your own pace. Resistance on the NRTHRN Trainer is fully adjustable, and your coach will help you find the right level for you.

Your coach guides you through every movement with clear cues, form corrections, and hands-on adjustments when needed. If something doesn’t feel right, they’ll modify it right away.

The tablet on your trainer tracks your output, wattage, and speed in real time. You can follow your numbers—or tune in to how your body feels. Both are encouraged.

  • You’ll likely feel sore the next day—and that’s completely normal, especially as you learn new movement patterns.

After your first few classes, many clients notice increased core engagement and coordination. By class three, the movements begin to feel more natural, and the method starts to click.

  • Strong (50 min)
Our signature class and the full NRTHRN experience. A mix of strength and cardio on the trainer with some floor work.

    Sculpt (50 min)
Lower-impact, Pilates-inspired training focused on control, form, and deep muscle activation.

    Cardio (30 min)
Fast-paced conditioning on the trainer with minimal breaks. We recommend taking a few Strong or Sculpt classes first.

    Still not sure?

"I felt slightly awkward during my first class, but the instructor’s clear guidance and encouragement made all the difference. By my third class, I was completely hooked - and I haven’t looked back since. In just three months, I’ve taken more than 60 classes, and I’ve never felt stronger or more confident in my own body. Questions before your first class? We’ve got answers.

  • Absolutely. NRTHRN Strong is designed for all fitness levels, including beginners.

Resistance is fully adjustable, and our coaches guide you through every movement, offering hands-on support and modifications so you can work at the right intensity for your body.

  • Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows a full range of motion. You’ll move through different positions on the trainer, including standing, kneeling, and floor-based work.

For Strong and Cardio, wear indoor training shoes. For Sculpt, you can choose between indoor shoes or grippy socks.

  • Probably — and that’s completely normal. You’ll use muscles and movement patterns that may be new to your body.

Soreness typically peaks 24–48 hours after class and is a sign your body is adapting. Most people notice recovery becomes much faster by week two.

  • Let your coach know before class. They’ll offer modifications or alternatives to make movements work for your body.

The trainer is low-impact and joint-friendly, and we regularly work with clients managing injuries or limitations. If you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor before starting a new workout routine.

  • The NRTHRN Trainer uniquely mimics the motion of cross-country skiing indoors, delivering a low-impact but high-intensity workout.

Unlike traditional HIIT or running, it’s easier on your joints. And unlike standard strength training, you move through full ranges of motion with constant resistance — combining strength, cardio, and mobility in one session.

  • Not at all. NRTHRN Strong is designed to meet you where you are.

Our coaches create a supportive environment and help you adjust resistance so you can build strength and endurance at your own pace — no matter your starting point.

  • Yes — you can book a single drop-in class for $42.

That said, most first-timers choose the 3-class intro pack ($49). It gives you time to learn the movements, build coordination, and really feel how the method works. Many people say it all clicks by classes two and three.
