What to expect

Designed for every fitness level.

1

Arrive a little early

Come 10 to 15 minutes before class. Check in at the front desk, where we'll set you up with the right poles for your height, then grab water and a towel and meet your instructor.

2

We set you up

Your instructor walks you through the NRTHRN Trainer and the Double Poling pattern before class. It clicks faster than you'd think.

3

Technique first

The first class is about learning the movement, not maxing it out. Light resistance, a sustainable pace, form before output.

4

You leave with numbers

Every session saves to your account, so from day one you can see where you started and watch it build.

How you learn

Technique first. Strength second.

We meet you where you are. If you're still finding the movement, we slow it down and build the form. If you're already strong, we add resistance and let you push. Either way, you leave having done it right, and the next twenty classes build on class one instead of correcting it.

What to bring

Training clothes, training shoes, and a water bottle. We provide towels, showers, and everything you need after class.

Before you come in

First-timer questions.

Do I need ski experience?
None at all. The machine is inspired by cross-country skiing, but a class is strength, cardio, and mobility. You are not skiing.
Do I need to be fit already?
No. The trainer scales to your effort, so first-time movers and competitive athletes train in the same room. You set the resistance and pace.
Is it low-impact?
Yes. The Double Poling pattern is one of the lowest-impact full-body movements measured, so you can push hard without stressing your knees, hips, or spine.
What should I book first?
Most first-timers start with Strong, the flagship. If you'd rather go slower and focus on control, start with Sculpt.
Do I need grip socks?
Grip socks are recommended for Sculpt classes but aren't required. For Strong and Cardio, most members wear their regular training shoes.
Which poles do I use?
Poles are matched to your height: under 5'5" use red, 5'5" to 5'10" use yellow, above 5'10" use green. Our front desk will help you get set up for your first class.
Can I train while pregnant?
Yes, the movements are low-impact. Just let your instructor know before class.
